Job Description:

Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of diamond and jewelry retailer, reporting to president of the company. Supervise subordinate managers and staff. Oversee and direct operational functions, including sales, marketing, inventory, customer service, human resources, financial management of budgets and accounting, and general administration. Direct and coordinate activities of departments and personnel concerned with the import, pricing, sales, or distribution of diamond products. Oversee and direct sales, marketing and customer support operations for all branch offices in the United States, including sales and service training, sales promotions, business development activities and advertising campaigns. Negotiate purchase agreements with domestic and international wholesale diamond suppliers. Review financial statements, sales and business activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement. Requires domestic and international travel up to 15% of the time.

Minimum Requirements:

Four years experience in managing business operations, budgets and personnel; managing profit and loss (P&L) to improve productivity and achieve financial goals; and managing marketing or other business development programs or initiatives. 
Also requires education or experience in: defining and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency and effectiveness; coordinating the import and export of wholesale diamonds, including international customs clearance requirements; managing diamond inventory and supply channels; and negotiating the purchase of diamonds from domestic and international wholesale distributors.

The Director of Business Development reports to the Sr. Director and is a member of the Company’s executive team. This position is responsible for the acquisition, development and management of all new business accounts. This position may include sales/account management responsibility for some existing customers as well. The Director of Sales drives the company’s achievement of its customer acquisition/retention and revenue goals.


Acquire new business accounts for the organization

Manage some of the existing accounts of the organization

Work closely with on shore and off shore teams for product development, manufacturing, quality control and deliveries

Drive the development of national, and, if appropriate, international sales strategies

Maintain key customer relationships and develop and implement strategies for expanding/retaining the company’s customer base

Manage overall sales process, set appropriate metrics, and fully execute performance management with the Sales Teams

Work closely with product development manager for a continuous product development process  for new as well as existing business accounts


At least 7 years sales management experience with 4 years in a senior management position

Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels

Ability to conceive and develop product to suit customer needs

Ability to demonstrate sales ability by example

Outstanding consultative selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with direct reports, colleagues, and customers

Proven evangelical sales track record in a high velocity, new product/new market environment

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment

Experience with a specific sales methodology and formal sales training 

Capacity to assume more significant executive responsibilities over time


Applicable four year degree or equivalent experience.


Training certifications are a plus

Sales management experience in the luxury goods industries

Master’s degree preferred

Director of Membership

The American Gem Society is the country's preeminent jewelry trade organization dedicated to consumer protection.

We are seeking a Director of Membership.  The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the American Gem Society’s 

membership program by expanding its membership base, and expanding the credentials of the current membership.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Travels and meets with AGS members to encourage additional titles and certification

Travels and meets with prospective members to encourage new member growth

Establishes and implements an annual business plan to increase membership growth.

Oversees membership dues collection efforts and approves adjustments

Serves as staff specialist for membership development.

Fuego Corporate Office is looking for a Buyer to help create a timely and exciting product assortment. Fuego is a regional chain of 22 gift and accessory boutiques located primarily in the Pacific Northwest.  The company was recently bought and relocated to Austin, TX. [Austin is on every “best-place-to-live” and “fastest growing cities” list.]  Fuego is preparing for a national expansion next year.  The buyer we are seeking will be part of a nimble and creative merchandising team that will construct the product assortment for our stores. The position we are specifically looking for is someone with experience and interest in the jewelry categories. Fuego has traditionally carried an interesting and unique selection of both costume and moderately priced case jewelry.  We can significantly grow that category, but we need someone with passion and acumen. This candidate will need to deliver the sales and profit plan for assigned categories through the precise execution of a well-conceived merchandise strategy. They will respond to customer feedback and market trends.


•    Develop compelling assortments, moving into and out of sub categories as necessary to keep the assortment fresh  
•    Analyze reports and respond to current trends as appropriate, i.e. reorders, markdowns, marketing, etc.
•    Ensure key trends are represented with in the store, constantly testing new trends and reacting with speed when successful
•    Responsible for managing inventory levels
•    Develop new resources
•    Find new vendors and sources for cutting edge products. Negotiate prices and business terms with vendors in a favorable but fair way.
•    Initiate strategies and seasonal plans to drive sales, this includes developing inventory levels, receipt flows, projecting markdowns and planning for a profitable margin.  In season, the buyer will react to the business to reach plan metrics.
•    Weekly: Analyze selling by item, sub category, category, etc., TY/LY, manage OTB, markdowns and inventory flow.
•    Monthly: Analyze markdowns, work with Director, other buyers, and visual to develop evolving strategies.  
•    Post Season:  Conduct in-season and post-season analyses to better evaluate the business and improve next seasons buy.
•    Develop positive working relationship within vendor community, partnering with them to stay on trend and deliver quality products on time and with best price.
•    Communication within the Fuego team is key. This buyer must be able to partner with fellow buyers and report upward with ease.
•    Shop competition regularly. Regular travel to market and to stores is expected.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

•    Degree required (any):  College 4 years
•    Retail Experience (any): 2+ years as buyer, preferably with Accessory or Jewelry Experience
•    Computer skills:  Microsoft Office software, plus be generally comfortable around all computer software.
•    Highly organized, strong sense of urgency, self-motivated, team player, creative problem solver, entrepreneurial spirit
•    Interest in trends, fashion, and youth culture a plus.  
•    Need to travel and be away from home at least 20 days a year.
•    Motivated to help grow a small company into a large one.
•    Full time, non-seasonal, weekends not required
