Lux Bond & Green, a family owned and operated jewelry store in business since 1898 specializing in high-end merchandise, is seeking an experienced Store Manager who has a proven track record working with luxury jewelry, watches and giftware for our store located in Glastonbury, Connecticut. The ideal candidate will have significant management experience running a luxury retail jewelry store as well as extremely strong operational and organizational skills. Superior selling skills working with affluent clientele and a commitment to exceptional customer service are also requirements of the position. 


Sales & Customer Service: handle all aspects of selling in a professional, highly productive manner embracing and applying Lux Bond & Green’s core values of respect, integrity, communication, confidentiality and teamwork in every interaction.  

Inventory Control: ensure the processing of new tickets, price changes, receiving, transfers, and the stocking of merchandise is handled accurately and timely.  Oversee inventory and expense control

Store Appearance/Maintenance: ensure merchandise displays for jewelry, watches, and giftware are fresh, exciting, properly stocked, and presented in an organized and attractive fashion.  Ensure all displays (including front windows) are visually stunning and represent our image and brand.

Security: ensure entire staff follows all security procedures on a daily basis such as maintaining proper coverage on the sales floor, showing one piece of merchandise at a time, locking all cases and being constantly aware of activity in the store.  

Keyholder: open and close the store as needed, and oversee as well as be able to personally handle all paperwork and systems requirements associated with the POS system and sales posting for the day including the counting and balancing of the registers and petty cash.

Service/Repair: Have a full understanding of and, when needed, assist with the take in of repairs including use of the repair system.

Community Involvement/Special Events: drive a vibrant culture of special events in the store working with local philanthropic organizations as well as Lux Bond & Green vendors.  Be an involved member of the local business and philanthropic community.  

Staff Supervision, Training and Development 


- Minimum of 5+ years store management experience in a high volume, luxury sales environment working with affluent clientele.

- Demonstrated skill in managing and developing a diverse staff of people.

- Proficient in the use of POS systems and basic Microsoft Office suite.

- Strong customer service orientation.

- Treats others with respect, integrity and courtesy.

  • Model-making in metal and wax resins
  • Clean and assemble casting products in platinum and gold
  • Produce handmade jewelry (including solitaires, solitaires with side stones and necklace pendants)
  • Service assorted jewelry pieces including sizing and restoration
  • Solder using laser welding machines and gas torch
  • Stone setting (includes four prong setting and other setting techniques)
  • Knowledge of  CAD / CAM techniques is a plus

Buyer wanted

Fuego Corporate Office is looking for a Buyer to help create a timely and exciting product assortment. Fuego is a regional chain of 22 gift and accessory boutiques located primarily in the Pacific Northwest.  The company was recently bought and relocated to Austin, TX. [Austin is on every “best-place-to-live” and “fastest growing cities” list.]  Fuego is preparing for a national expansion next year.  The buyer we are seeking will be part of a nimble and creative merchandising team that will construct the product assortment for our stores. The position we are specifically looking for is someone with experience and interest in the jewelry categories. Fuego has traditionally carried an interesting and unique selection of both costume and moderately priced case jewelry.  We can significantly grow that category, but we need someone with passion and acumen. This candidate will need to deliver the sales and profit plan for assigned categories through the precise execution of a well-conceived merchandise strategy. They will respond to customer feedback and market trends.


•    Develop compelling assortments, moving into and out of sub categories as necessary to keep the assortment fresh  
•    Analyze reports and respond to current trends as appropriate, i.e. reorders, markdowns, marketing, etc.
•    Ensure key trends are represented with in the store, constantly testing new trends and reacting with speed when successful
•    Responsible for managing inventory levels
•    Develop new resources
•    Find new vendors and sources for cutting edge products. Negotiate prices and business terms with vendors in a favorable but fair way.
•    Initiate strategies and seasonal plans to drive sales, this includes developing inventory levels, receipt flows, projecting markdowns and planning for a profitable margin.  In season, the buyer will react to the business to reach plan metrics.
•    Weekly: Analyze selling by item, sub category, category, etc., TY/LY, manage OTB, markdowns and inventory flow.
•    Monthly: Analyze markdowns, work with Director, other buyers, and visual to develop evolving strategies.  
•    Post Season:  Conduct in-season and post-season analyses to better evaluate the business and improve next seasons buy.
•    Develop positive working relationship within vendor community, partnering with them to stay on trend and deliver quality products on time and with best price.
•    Communication within the Fuego team is key. This buyer must be able to partner with fellow buyers and report upward with ease.
•    Shop competition regularly. Regular travel to market and to stores is expected.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

•    Degree required (any):  College 4 years
•    Retail Experience (any): 2+ years as buyer, preferably with Accessory or Jewelry Experience
•    Computer skills:  Microsoft Office software, plus be generally comfortable around all computer software.
•    Highly organized, strong sense of urgency, self-motivated, team player, creative problem solver, entrepreneurial spirit
•    Interest in trends, fashion, and youth culture a plus.  
•    Need to travel and be away from home at least 20 days a year.
•    Motivated to help grow a small company into a large one.
•    Full time, non-seasonal, weekends not required
•    Highly organized, strong sense of urgency, self-motivated, team player, creative problem solver, entrepreneurial spirit
•    Interest in trends, fashion, youth culture a plus
