GIA Debuts Jewelry Design, Tech Program in NY
The Gemological Institute of America’s Jewelry Design & Technology diploma program now is being offered in both Carlsbad, Calif. and New York City.
New York--The Gemological Institute of America now is offering its Jewelry Design & Technology (JDT) diploma program in New York.
GIA’s JDT program covers topics essential for becoming a jewelry designer and technology professional, teaching jewelry design and product development using CAD/CAM technology with 3-D printer rapid prototyping. Previously, the course was offered only at the GIA’s Robert Mouawad Campus in Carlsbad, Calif.
In New York, the 26-week program is being taught at the GIA campus in the International Gem Tower. The rooms house the latest manufacturing technology for jewelry design and engineering, product development, custom orders, manufacturing, jewelry repair and quality assurance.
The inaugural class started on Jan. 14 and will run through July 22. The second class starts Sept. 29 and ends April 28, 2017.
