Platinum design competition opens for entries

February 18, 2014

New York--The Platinum Guild International USA is now accepting entries for the JCK 2014 Platinum Innovation Awards, which will be presented at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on June 1.

The deadline for renderings is April 10, and complete platinum product submissions are due April 25.

The competition is open to exhibitors from the JCK, Luxury, Elite Enclave and AGTA shows. This year, the American Gem Trade Association will sponsor the contest’s Platinum and Colored Gemstone category, which is open to AGTA members only.

In addition, to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the competition, PGI-USA is introducing a new anniversary-themed category that will ask designers to create one platinum piece inspired by the traditional five-year anniversary gift of wood.

The full list of categories is as follows.

--Platinum Engagement Ring
--Entry Platinum Engagement Ring (settings under $2,500 retail)
--Platinum Wedding Band
--Platinum Men’s Jewelry
--Everyday Platinum Fashion Jewelry (women’s)
--Platinum Red Carpet Jewelry
--AGTA Platinum and Colored Gemstone Jewelry
--Fifth Anniversary Platinum Innovation Awards Challenge

Entrants may submit up to one design per category and will automatically become nominees in this year’s competition upon submission.

Awards will be granted twice in each category, one Editor’s Choice and one Buyer’s Choice. One Best in Show award will go to the design that receives the highest cumulative number of votes.

Judging will begin on May 6 at an exclusive editor preview event in New York. All supplied contest photos will be featured on PGI-USA’s website.

Participants may enter the contest on the PGI-USA website, where guidelines and additional information also is available.
