Show organizers have expanded the Couture Design Awards by two categories in order to honor jewelry that breaks new ground as well as pieces that are distinctively extravagant. 
Akanksha Gore and So Hyun Ahn are the winners of a jewelry design contest hosted by lab-grown diamond company Gemesis and the Fashion Institute of Technology that asked students to create renderings of “stylishly sustainable” engagement rings. 
Five winners have been named in Gemvision’s Matrix Design contest, which recognizes the best work of designers who use computer-aided drafting tools to create jewelry.
The MJSA’s 2104 Vision Awards, which recognizes outstanding talent in jewelry design, is open for entries now through April 17.  
Entries are now being accepted for the 2014 Couture Design Awards, an annual competition for the show’s exhibiting brands.
