What was the most Googled celebrity wedding of the year?
Google has released its report on the top searches in the United States this year, with the nuptials of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West leading the list of celebrity wedding searches.
New York--Google just released its year-end search trends for 2014, showing what Americans were looking for this year, category by category.
While Google highlighted many categories in its annual Zeitgeist search roundup, one that might be of particular interest to jewelers is celebrity weddings, which tend to impact trends in engagement rings, wedding bands and wedding day jewelry.
This past year, the nuptials of reality star Kim Kardashian and musician Kanye West were the most Googled. The two were hitched in Florence, Italy, back in May.
Also top searches were the nuptials between: George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin; Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie; Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard (the former is one of the children featured on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting reality television show); and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker.
Rounding out the top 10 most Googled nuptials were the wedding between fashion designer and television personality Lauren Conrad and William Tell; Adam Levine and model Behati Prinsloo; Jessica Simpson and former NFL player Eric Johnson; Solange Knowles (singer and sister of famed musician Beyoncé) and Alan Ferguson; and actress Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting.
Google’s trends list include a number of topics, like most searched beers, dog questions, selfies, and podcasts, for which, it bears mentioning, the well-known and National Jeweler team favorite Serial came in first.
Google also gave the list of the most searched fashion designers, which was led by teenager Bethany Mota, who got her start as a video blogger and now has a line with retailer Aéropostale. Mota topped Kate Spade, Oscar de la Renta, Rachel Roy, L’Wren Scott, and Valentino.
Rounding out Google’s top 10 list in this category were Alexander Wang, Sherri Hill, Edith Flagg, and Tina Knowles.
Also notable in Google’s top search results for 2014 was that the Apple Watch was listed as No. 4 in the Tech Gadgets category.
