New York--In preparation for Valentine’s Day, PhotoScribe announced that it will do same-day laser inscription by appointment at its headquarters in New York City’s Diamond District.

While PhotoScribe generally inscribes for manufacturers, the company will do single orders, offering services such as the addition of hallmarks and laser inscribing gemstones or diamonds or on precious and non-precious metals. Companies can inscribe their logo onto a piece of jewelry or a store can bring a ring to be laser inscribed with a name, phrase or date.

Sarin becomes Sarine
Sarin Technologies Ltd. has officially changed its name to Sarine Technologies Ltd., according to IDEX Online. The change, effective last week, came about following a resolution passed at the company’s annual general meeting and then approved by Israel’s registrar of companies.
 
In addition, the Ramat Gan-based company, which makes equipment for the planning, processing and evaluation and measurement of diamonds and gemstones, announced that it has launched a new version of its polished diamond quality assurance and polishing process control software, the Instructor 3.0.

The new software, designed to improve the accuracy of polished diamond modeling particularly for fancy-shaped diamonds, runs on many of Sarine’s rough and polished diamond modeling platforms in the DiaExpert and DiaMension families, including the DiaMension HD and DiaScan S+ systems.

Joseph Blank teams with colored gemstone co.
Diamond cutter and importer Joseph Blank announced recently that it is now sharing its Diamond District offices with Knupfer International Gems, enabling them to offer customers “one-stop shopping” for diamonds and colored gemstones.

Based in New York, Joseph Blank deals in both loose and mounted diamonds and celebrates its 95th anniversary this year.

Knupfer was started more than 40 years ago and is in its second generation, led by Robert Knupfer, the son of a Brazilian lapidary expert. The company sells fine color melee and large single gemstones. Its website, BuySellMemo.com, is one of the trade’s most successful venues for loose gemstone sales, according to the company.

Rex-Cut introduces new finishing sticks
Fall River, Mass.-based Rex-Cut Abrasives is offering an expanded line of finishing sticks for de-burring and finishing precision-cast or machine parts with tough-to-access areas.

The sticks are made from reinforced non-woven cotton fiber with either aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives that are pressed and bonded together into different profile shapes and sizes.

They are now available in a new half-round shape and as full rounds and squares to match openings and hole details. The sticks come in various sizes, from 1/8 inch to 1 inch in diameter and 4 to 6 inches in length, with 24 to 320 grain sizes, and soft, medium and hard bonds.
