President of Vicenza shows steps down
Vicenza--The president of the organization that handles the Vicenzaoro trade shows in Italy has resigned, numerous sources have confirmed to National Jeweler.
Paolo Mantovani, president of Fiera di Vicenza S.p.A., resigned last week on the heels of a report that surfaced in the Il Giornale Di Vicenza newspaper detailing discord among show management.
According to a translated version of the story, Mantovani had accused the show’s general manager, Corrado Facco, of circumventing the show’s board of directors to conduct “private” negotiations with the Hong Kong Jewelry & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) regarding placement of their booth.
Numerous inquiries about the resignation went unanswered last week.
Over the weekend, a Fiera di Vicenza spokesperson stated that show organizers would be distributing a press release to international media this week, though reports of Mantovani’s resignation circulated in the Italian press last week.
An email sent to Mantovani’s email address Friday was returned with a message that the email address had been “discontinued,” and asking that all communication be forwarded to the Fiera di Vicenza’s general secretariat, Federica Rodighiero.
