On-air retailer brings back TGIF, with a social spin
August 22, 2014
Knoxville, Tenn.--For those who grew up on the sitcoms of the late 80s and early 90s, the acronym “TGIF” is a familiar one, used to refer to the family-friendly lineup of sitcoms that aired Friday nights on ABC.
Today, Jewelry Television is resurrecting TGIF, with a modern twist: its own hashtag (of course) and a focus not just on selling jewelry but on the relationship between fashion trends and jewelry.
From 8 to 10 on Friday nights, JTV now has what it terms “Girlfriend Friday.”
During Girlfriend Friday, the Knoxville-based multimedia retailer focuses on fashion as a whole while also asking women to share their jewelry stories and favorite trends on Facebook and Instagram.
The show’s catchphrase is “Thank Goodness It’s Girlfriend Friday,” which, like anything else these days, has its own hashtag: #TGIGF. The hashtag is used to connect and share the pictures and comments made by fans and viewers across various social media platforms.
Hosted by JTV’s Nikki Rouleau and Misty Mills, who are real-life best friends, the show includes a segment called “Girl … Tell Me About It!”, which covers topical news and current events relating to both jewelry and fashion.
The hosts also have a question-and-answer session on styles, colors and jewelry that features a question of the day from a fan. When needed, this segment incorporates responses on social media from JTV expert hosts and guests.
“(Misty) and I get to interact with a large sisterhood and share our love of all that sparkles and shines,” Rouleau said. “Every Friday night will be a new experience, with lots of viewer stories and questions to make it really personal and fun.”
