Israel releases list of top exporters for 2011
Tel Aviv--Leo Schachter Diamonds Ltd. exported more polished diamonds than any other Israeli company last year, year-end figures compiled by Israel’s diamond controller in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor show.
After coming in at No. 2 in 2010, Leo Schachter shipped out $403 million worth of polished goods between January and December 2011, dethroning billionaire Lev Leviev’s L.L.D. Diamonds Ltd. as the country’s top exporter.
After topping the list for 10 years in a row, L.L.D Diamonds was not on the 2011 list. The list excludes companies that do not want their figures published.
The country’s second-largest polished exporter was M.I.D. House of Diamonds with $239 million in exports, followed by A.A. Rachminov Diamonds (2000) Ltd. with $216 million.
E.Z. Diamonds Ltd., which recorded $140 million in polished diamond exports, and Yoshfe Diamonds Intl. Ltd., with $130 million, came in at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Rounding out the top 10 were: Niru Diamonds Israel (1987) Ltd. with $111 million in polished diamond exports, Arabov Group Ltd. with $102 million, Andre Messika Ltd. with $101 million, Ofer Mizrahi Diamonds with $96 million and Rosy Blue Sales Ltd. with $85 million.
A complete list of the top 25 polished diamond exporters is available on the Israel diamond industry’s web site.
Earlier this month, Israel reported that its net polished diamonds exports were $7.2 billion in 2011, a 24 percent increase over 2010. The United States remained Israel’s No. 1 export market for polished diamonds.
