Marilyn's ring from Joltin' Joe to be auctioned
Los Angeles--A wedding band that united Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio in marriage in January 1954 will be sold as part of the “Icons of Hollywood” auction, to take place Dec. 15-17 at Profiles in History in Calabasas Hills, Calif.
The ring (below) is a platinum eternity band set with 35 baguette-cut diamonds, with one diamond missing, and is estimated to realize $300,000-$500,000.
DiMaggio married Monroe at an intimate civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, but the two were divorced less than a year later. Monroe died in 1962 at the age of 36, and DiMaggio died in 1999 at the age of 84.
Monroe’s famed white dress, known from the iconic photo of her standing atop a subway gate with her dress billowing upward, previously sold at a Profiles in History auction for $5.5 million.
Founded in 1985, Profiles in History is a dealer in authentic autographs, letters, documents, vintage signed photographs and manuscripts, and the largest auctioneer of Hollywood memorabilia.
