Winner of JIC’s Snapshots Contest announced
New York--Kelly Roose of Madison, Wis., has been named the winner of the Jewelry Information Center’s (JIC) “Sparkling Snapshots Contest,” which asked entrants to share their connection between jewelry and a picture of a special moment.
Roose’s photo, “The Sparkle of my Life (below),” described the connection jewelry had to her most sparkling moment, the birth of her first child. She captioned the winning photo with: “They aren’t just rings; they represent the day we started the best thing life has to offer: our family.”
“JIC created the Sparkling Snapshots Contest to celebrate those moments and help reinforce the significance of fine jewelry in consumers’ lives,” Amanda Gizzi, Jewelers of America’s director of communications, said. “We received hundreds of entries that clearly illustrate how people can view their jewelry as more than just accessories, but rather as symbols of precious memories.”
Launched Sept. 12, the Sparkling Snapshots Contest received hundreds of entries from across the country. During a public voting period, more than 7,000 votes were cast to select the top 25 finalists. Those 25 went on to a final judging round, where a panel selected the winner.
As the grand prize winner, Roose received a spa getaway for two in Park City, Utah, a True Knots diamond necklace, a Louis Vuitton travel jewelry case, and a feature in the “MC Notes” section of Marie Claire magazine. The top 25 finalists received a blackened sterling silver and black spinel necklace by Jane Basch Designs, a Shutterfly.com gift card and a signed copy of “Nina Garcia’s Look Book: What to Wear for Every Occasion.”
JIC will be launching its third annual “Ultimate Proposal Contest” in February 2012.
