Yvel jewelry sales benefit Israeli jewelry school
Houston--Zadok Jewelers and fine jewelry brand Yvel recently partnered to benefit an Israeli jewelry and art school that enhances the lives of Ethiopian immigrants.
A special assortment of Yvel’s newest designs were put on display in Zadok Jewelers in Houston from Nov. 30-Dec. 3, the sales of which directly supported the Andrea Bronfman School of Jewelry & Art, a philanthropic school that benefits the Ethiopian Jewish population of Israel.
“We are honored to welcome Yvel back to Houston,” Helene Zadok, owner of Zadok Jewelers, said. “Yvel’s new Andrea Bronfman School of Jewelry & Art makes a meaningful and lasting impact on its students, and we believe Texans will enjoy their jewels even more, knowing that they have helped support this impressive mission with each purchase.”
The Andrea Bronfman School, located in Jerusalem, was founded by Yvel owners Isaac and Orna Levy, and is funded by Yvel. Together with the non-profit association “Be Atzmi,” the school offers an effective employment training and job placement program for Ethiopian immigrants who attend.
Each candidate for the Andrea Bronfman School goes through a detailed application process before being accepted. Students are paid a monthly stipend during the one-year program, and are accompanied throughout training by an on-hand social worker who discusses any personal, family and social problems.
Curriculum at the school includes goldsmithing, pearl stringing, diamond setting and more, as well as Israeli history and heritage lessons and tours throughout the country to help students more easily acclimate to Israeli life.
Students are placed into jobs in the Israeli jewelry industry upon graduation, helping them to develop successful lives and contributing to the overall success of the jewelry industry in Israel.
Duvall O’Steen, head of marketing and sales at Yvel, said the Houston event was successful.
