New York--Harper’s Bazaar Jewelry China recently honored Shaun Leane with its International Designer of the Year award.

The publication recognized Leane during its annual Jewelry Design Awards, which celebrate creativity in design, on Jan. 14 at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Beijing. This year’s event marks the first time the awards have recognized an international designer.

Ninety percent of the votes responsible for Leane’s win came from Harper’s Bazaar readers and the remaining 10 percent from individuals in the art, jewelry and fashion industries, including the president of Gems Jewelry Trade Association of China.

In addition, Harper’s Bazaar readers voted Leane’s Contra Mundum, the bespoke diamond evening globe created with artist Daphne Guinness, as their favorite design of the year.

“It means so much to me and my team for our work to be recognized and appreciated by such a prestigious publication as Harper’s Bazaar Jewelry. Having entered the Chinese market just over a year ago, it is a tremendous triumph to win such a title,” Leane said at the awards show.
