New York--Clean, fresh and elegant were among the adjectives used to describe the newly redesigned JA New York show, which started Sunday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center here.

Both exhibitors and buyers browsing the JA New York Winter show floor on Sunday commented on the changes, which include redesigned booths, an updated logo design and color palette, modern black chandeliers, as seen below at the registration desks, and plush carpeting, as well as a sleek new lounge areas located in the Inner Circle and throughout the show.

“I think it’s elegant, clean,” said Andrea Marshall, owner of AndreaGems, who returned to JA New York this winter after a four-year absence. “It’s much better for the exhibitors.”

Harry Presser of S & R Designs, a company that has exhibited at JA New York for 15 years, called the show’s new look “fresh” and “up to date,” and said there was a nice flow of customers, both new and old.

“It’s just so pleasant to be able to walk around here,” he said. “And I think they did a great job promoting the show.”

New couches and pillows served to give show attendees a stylish place to put their feet up at the show.

Buyers also commented on the updated look of the show.

Aldy Concepcion, owner of A Dazzling Butterfly, a jewelry store in Miami, described it as “warm” and said the brighter colors were uplifting.

“It makes you feel like you are [shopping] somewhere, not just [walking around] a warehouse,” she said.

The changes to JA New York evident at the show on Sunday were among a slate of transformations to the 105-year-old brand show organizers announced in the fall.

JA New York Show Director Drew Lawsky said they were “absolutely thrilled” with their opening day.

“In addition to the brisk buying activity, we have received rave reviews from both the exhibitor and the retailer community regarding the fresh new look of the show,” he said. “This is only the beginning of the JA renaissance.”

The JA New York Winter Show continues through Tuesday at the Javits Center.
