New look, strong finish for JANY Winter
New York--The JA New York Winter Show, the first to display the brand’s revamped format, ended Tuesday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. For the most part, exhibitors reported solid results with a few noting the show’s cleaner, updated look helped to draw buyers and create a positive ambience.
Both Andrea Marshall of AndreaGems and Jackie Stein, co-owner of Anzie, said they had a “great” show.
Stein said the brand sees business increase at every show, but this show’s more modern look helped to buoy it even more. “It has more of a luxury feel,” she said.
At Kabana, international retail specialist Eric Koons also reported brisk business. “We found it busier than usual for us,” he said, noting that Kabana has participated in the JA show for more than 30 years.
The brand handcrafts its jewelry in the United States, working in white, yellow and rose gold as well as silver. While alternative metals remain popular due to the high price of gold, Koons said he saw a number of buyers at the show shying away from those products and returning to gold.
“That’s a trend I am noticing overall. People are starting to gravitate back toward higher-end product,” he said.
New exhibitors also found success at JA New York Winter. “What’s Your Sign? By Glenn Bradford,” a line of personalized, zodiac-themed jewelry launched at the show, and President Deidre Hanrahan said she participated as an exhibitor again.
“For being a launch for this company, it seems promising,” she said.
JA New York Show Director Drew Lawsky said overall, show organizers were “extremely pleased” with the results.
“The new look, feel and ambiance has received rave reviews from both our exhibitors and our retail community. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the summer JA Show,” he said. “We’ll take what we’ve accomplished here and continue to fine tune and improve so we are the best possible show we can be.”
