NRF launches contest for best retailers
Washington--In March, the National Retail Federation (NRF) will begin accepting video submissions for its new “This is Retail” contest, a contest designed to highlight the owners of the most innovative stores in the country.
Between March 5 to 16, retailers are invited to submit a two-minute video sharing the most outstanding aspects of their store’s story--how it positively impacts shoppers or the community, their role in the creation of an innovative product or technology or an initiative that will generate new jobs to boost the economy.
A panel of retail executives will narrow down the videos to 20, and those 20 finalists will be featured on RetailMeansJobs.contest. The winners will be chosen based on votes from the public.
The first-place submission will receive $25,000 while the second-place store gets $15,000 and third place takes home $10,000. The NRF will announce the winners at its Washington Leadership Conference in May.
“We’re on a hunt to find the best retail stories in America, from marketing geniuses to customer service superstars to small business owners who are the fabric of every local community,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said. “NRF’s ‘This is Retail’ contest will put a face on every aspect of our life and culture, from commerce and fashion to real estate and public policy.”
The contest is part of the NRF’s “Retail Means Jobs” campaign, which intends to highlight the staying power and importance of retail to decision-makers in Washington.
