JIS reports rise in spring show attendance
Miami Beach--The Jewelers International Showcase (JIS) spring jewelry tradeshow, held March 31-April 2 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, saw a 10 percent increase in international buyers this year, show producers report.
“Leading into our spring show we wanted to look outside the box of our standard programs to help bring buyers to the show this weekend. And it just takes one look on the show floor to see that it was a resounding success,” Jordan Tuchband, sales director of JIS, said.
Show exhibitors reported that buying was strong at all price points, from high-end finished diamond and colored stone jewelry to high-fashion sterling silver items. Attendance from Central and South American buyers was good, as well as buyers from Florida and other U.S. states, he said.
“We had a significant increase of international buyers, in addition to our mainstay of domestic buyers, and will take these new programs forward for all future JIS shows,” Tuchband said.
JIS reported that 99 percent of attending exhibitors confirmed their booth reservations for the October show before the April show’s close.
“We are happy to report that all of our major appointments showed up to buy this weekend. And whatever JIS did to bring in all these additional international buyers worked,” Rafi Siddiqui, of America’s Gold/America’s Diamonds, said.
JIS will hold its next tradeshow Oct. 4-7 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Additional information can be found on the JIS website here.
