Smart Show Chicago offering new programs

Feb 11, 2013

Chicago--Educational programs designed to help independent jewelers learn new business ideas will be offered at the upcoming Smart Jewelry Show in Chicago, slated for April 13 to 15.

“Experience Areas,” a question and answer session with the show’s keynote speaker and courses from show partners, dubbed “Smart friends,” will bring the Smart show’s total education agenda to 80 sessions and 90-plus speakers.

Located on the show floor, Experience Areas host themed, concise sessions that provide retailers with actionable ideas without having to leave the buying area. Joining the bench challenge, marketing, and cool stores areas this year will be the InDesign and gem and appraisal Experience Areas.

InDesign’s area is based on content from the magazine and will help retailers learn how to choose the right lines and get tips on advertising, in-store events and telling stories with display cases. Innovative retailers will also be on-hand to share successful strategies.

Sales expert and diamond educator Shane Decker will join experts from GemWorld International and the Gemological Institute of America in the gem and appraisal Experience Area, where they will provide updated information on gemology and appraisal topics and selling aspects of gemstones and diamonds.

On the day prior to the show floor opening, the Smart show’s Smart friends will offer training options on a variety of topics, including digital marketing sessions from GemFind, Matrix training from Gemvision and the latest sales analysis and research on silver from the Silver Promotion Service, among others.

Some sessions require payment and reservations in advance; additional information can be found here.

Finally, Smart show keynote speaker and marketing and branding expert Martin Lindstrom will sit down with InDesign Editor-in-Chief Trace Shelton for the “If I Owned a Jewelry Store” session on April 13. Advance booking for the event is required.

In its fifth year, the Smart Jewelry Show will take place at Chicago’s Navy Pier. Additional information about the show can be found on SmartJewelryShow.com.
