Comps climb 8% for Neiman Marcus

Dallas--Same-store sales increased 8 percent in the first quarter of fiscal 2012 for Neiman Marcus Inc., the high-end Dallas-based retail chain reported Monday.

Total sales were $1.00 billion, up from $927.2 million in the prior-year period. Net earnings stood at $48.4 million, up from $25.7 million in the first quarter of fiscal year 2011.

The Neiman Marcus Group operates both Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores through its Specialty Retail Stores segment. Under its Direct Marketing segment, the company conducts print and catalog operations using the Neiman Marcus, Horchow and Bergdorf Goodman brand names.

In the first quarter, revenues for the company’s stores segment totaled $811.8 million, up from $761.1 million in the prior-year period.

Revenues for online and catalog sales were up 15 percent, from $166.1 million to $191.3 million.

Neiman Marcus Group ranks No. 11 on National Jeweler’s 2011 list of $100 Million Supersellers.
