Montreal--Birks & Mayors Inc. announced that Jean-Christophe Bédos, previously of luxury jeweler Boucheron, will succeed the company’s current president and CEO, Thomas A. Andruskevich, who last year announced his planned spring 2012 departure.

For the first three months of Bédos’ tenure, he will be the chief operating officer, reporting jointly to Andruskevich and chair of the board Dr. Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera. He will assume the role of president and CEO as of April 1.

Bédos was president and CEO of Boucheron from May 2004 to June 2011. Previously, he was the managing director of Cartier France from 2002 to 2004 and international executive manager alongside the president of Richemont International from 2000 to 2002. He started his career in the jewelry industry at Cartier in 1988.

Once the handover period is complete, Andruskevich will continue as vice chair of the board and will serve on the board’s executive committee.
