Jewelry, luxury Web traffic spikes in December
Reston, Va.--The building momentum of the holiday shopping season meant significantly increased traffic to jewelry, luxury goods and accessories websites in December, according to comScore.
Retail sites were among the top-gainers, with jewelry, luxury goods and accessories sites experiencing the fourth-largest increase, reaching 28.6 million visitors, up 19 percent over the previous month.
Websites 6PM.com and BradfordExchange.com led this category with 2.6 million visitors, followed by Zale Corporation with 2.5 million visitors (up 23 percent from November), Coach.com with 2.4 million visitors and Kay Jewelers with 1.8 million visitors (up 18 percent).
While the most highly visited sites overall were the largest search engines--Google, Microsoft and Yahoo--some retailers made it into the top 50--Wal-Mart ranked 19th with 55.8 million visitors and Target ranked 28th with 37.3 million visitors.
Amazon.com ranked fifth with 114.7 million visitors, and eBay was 15th with 74.5 million visitors.
This information comes from comScore’s Media Matrix service, a monthly analysis of United States Web activity at the top online properties for December 2011. The full report can be accessed here.
