Hublot just can't get enough of Depeche Mode
Dec 18, 2009
Geneva--The watch brand Hublot is creating not one, not two, but 12 "Big Bang" watches spotlighting the music of pop group Depeche Mode, which headlines an upcoming benefit concert in London. Depeche Mode became a hit on the music scene in the 1980s, when it became one of the top English electronic groups, known for hits like "I just can't get enough," "Enjoy the silence" and "Personal Jesus."
The band's exclusive concert, slated to be held at London's Royal Albert Hall on Feb. 17, will raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, an organization that helps young cancer patients.
Each of the Hublot watches will feature one of the band's albums on its dial, and the timepieces will be auctioned off as of Feb. 1, 2010, via Hublot.ch or DepecheMode.com, with all proceeds from the sale going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
"As big fans of Hublot, we're happy to be collaborating with them on this important cause," said Martin L. Gore, one of the band's founding members, in a statement issued on behalf of Depeche Mode. "We're all honored to have these 12 unique pieces created by Hublot and are grateful that it will be in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust."
Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver said the brand felt proud and privileged to create 12 timepieces that reflect the "fusion between the spirit and sound of the music of Depeche Mode and the vibrations of 450 years of Swiss watchmaking art."
Tickets for the concert go on sale Dec. 18 at LiveNation.co.uk
