Watch news: Frédérique Constant, Raymond Weil

Jun 20, 2011

New York--Frédérique Constant has debuted a new line for young teenage girls, while watchmaker Raymond Weil was keeping time on a Fox reality competition watched by millions.

Swiss watchmaker Frédérique Constant announced recently the launch of a new Junior Ladies Collection, designed for girls between the ages 12 to 16. The collection launches on the heels of the success of the brand’s first Junior Collection launched in 2010 but targeted at young men.

The caseback of each Frédérique Constant Junior Ladies watch is designed to allow for the engraving of a personal message, whether the watch is a general gift or is for a special occasion, such as a birthday, bat mitzvah or first communion.

All models are 26 mm, quartz movement and are fitted with one of three dial styles, one with Roman numerals surrounding a natural, guilloché mother-of-pearl dial center and the other applied steel indexes and diamonds surrounding a hearts guilloché pattern on mother-of-pearl dial (below). They are available on a steel bracelet or with a selection of colored satin straps.

Raymond Weil received some prime-time airtime recently on the hit singing competition show American Idol. Eventual winner and country crooner Scotty McCreery (below, left), runner-up Lauren Alaina (below, right) and third-place finisher Haley Reinhart donned Raymond Weil timepieces when they stepped up to the microphone in the show’s final episodes.

McCreery chose from the Raymond Weil “Freelancer” series, selecting a 42 mm automatic chronograph on a stainless steel bracelet that retails for $2,950. Alaina picked a timepiece from the “Noemia” collection, which was named for Weil’s granddaughter. The stainless steel watch features diamond mother-of-pearl dial and diamond case and retails for $2,995.

The rocker Reinhart, meanwhile, chose the “Shine” tank-style watch with a slim case and brown dial that retails for $3,650.

Mario Peserico, general manager of Astor Time Ltd., which distributes Eberhard & Co. watches, announced in late May that it was signing an agreement with multi-brand distributor Swiss Watch Consultants LLC to become the exclusive agent for Eberhard & Co. in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

“The agreement is part of a development project aimed at increasing the brand’s name recognition in the North American market as well as a collaboration based upon a mutual passion that will be a major tool utilized to communicate the Eberhard & Co. brand’s values,” Peserico said.

According to the announcement from Astor, the re-introduction of the brand will begin immediately.

Philip Stein Group, parent company to the FRUITZ watch brand, has created a limited-edition collection of FRUITZ timepieces for PeaceLove Studios, a community of mental health advocates and artists dedicating to breaking the silence surrounding metal illness.

The watches contain Philip Stein’s proprietary Natural Frequency Technology, which is said to work with the body to reduce stress, enhance sleep and increase focus. PeaceLove founder Jeff. M. Sparr, an artist who battles obsessive-compulsive disorder, created a total of four art dial watches for the collection, one of which is pictured below.

They retail for $225 and are available on PeaceLoveStudios.com, FruitzWatches.com or at FRUITZ retailers nationwide.

FRUITZ will donate 10 percent of the gross profits from the sale of these watches to PeaceLove Studios, providing individuals and families coping with mental illness access to resources, opportunities and health care.
