Antiquorum watch auction set for Hong Kong
Hong Kong--Antiquorum will be holding its auction of “Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces” on Sat., June 25 here, offering 550 timepieces including rare, vintage and modern Patek Philippe wristwatches.
The yellow-gold tonneau-shaped Patek Philippe timepiece (below) features a black dial, as well as the original silver dial, diamond indexes, round button chronograph, a perpetual calendar, moon phases and an original 18-karat yellow gold bracelet. The watch is estimated to realize $256,772 - $385,158.
A platinum Patek Philippe wrist watch with a perpetual calendar, moon phases, retrograde date and an original platinum bracelet will also be offered at the auction. Only 19 examples of this watch in platinum have appeared at auction, and this piece is the only one known to have been ordered with a platinum bracelet. The watch is estimated to realize $205,417 - $282,449.
Also included in the sale will be a second generation Patek Philippe wristwatch (below) made of 18-karat yellow gold, which features a perpetual calendar and moon phases, and is astronomic and water resistant. Made in 1955, the piece was preserved over the years by the original owner and is estimated to realize $192,579 - $256,772.
A “Jean-Claude Killy” Ref. 6236, a rare anti-magnetic stainless steel wristwatch made in 1962, is included in the auction and estimated to realize $66,760 - $89,870. At Antiquorum’s June 8 auction of important modern and vintage timepieces in New York, a watch of the same name and reference number, but made in 1960, sold for $128,500.
A large gold and enamel singing bird table box, made circa 1845 by the 19th century’s Charles Abraham Bruguier, will be offered at the auction and is estimated to realize $112,979 - $166,901.
