Watch news: Jaeger Le-Coultre in Venice
New York--Jaeger Le-Coultre has crafted a charitable watch for this year’s Venice International Film Festival while other brands reveal new models. These are among the latest developments in the watch industry.
For the seventh year in a row, Jaeger Le-Coultre will be a sponsor for the Venice International Film Festival, scheduled for Aug. 31 to Sept. 10. The festival is in its 68th year.
The brand will present a personalized “Reverso” watch to the winners in the “Best Actor,” “Best Actress” and “Best Film” categories. The timepieces feature a lacquered engraving of a lion, the symbol of Venice, and are inscribed with “68. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica.” This year’s “Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award” will go to actor and director Al Pacino, who is presenting his third movie in Venice.
In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Reverso and the film festival, this year, Jaeger- LeCoultre created “Reverso for Emergency,” (below) a watch created to benefit the Salam Centre, a center for heart surgery in Khartoum, Sudan for children and adults suffering from heart diseases.

Jaeger-LeCoultre will sponsor 10 operations at the center, a nod to the 10 nights of the film festival, and will mark this special project with an event on Sept. 1.
In other watch news, Swiss watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer has recently announced three additions to the brand’s classic “Manero” line.
The Manero “BigDate Power” features a CFB 1964 automatic movement with a power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock and a big date display at 12 o’clock.
The 40mm watch (below) is available in stainless steel or 18-karat rose gold with an alligator strap or leather strap, and with or without diamonds.

The Manero “AutoDate” (below) is a nod to the watch styles of the 1960s with its “unfussy” design that shows the essentials at a glance: the current time and the date at 3 o’clock.

The 38 mm timepiece incorporates the CFB 1965 automatic movement and is available 18-karat rose gold or stainless steel, with either a gold bracelet or black or brown alligator strap.
The Manero “MoonPhase” features the weekday at 10 o’clock, the month at 2 o’clock and the moon phase at 6 o’clock. The 38mm watch runs on the CFB 1966 automatic movement and has a 42-hour power reserve.

The MoonPhase (above) has an 18-karat rose gold case, a leather strap and exhibition caseback.
Finally, Dutch watch brand TW Steel, which specializes in oversized watches, launched a special edition watch in honor of the annual Monaco Grand Prix auto race. The TW Steel “David Coulthard” special edition watch (below) pays homage to Coulthard, a two-time winner of the Monaco Grand Prix and TW Steel brand ambassador.

Available in 44mm or 48mm, the David Coulthard edition is the first in the brand’s new CEO Tech Collection. Both models feature sand-blasted steel cases and the bezel has a PVD dark-titanium coating, also sand-blasted. The watch also has a gray dial with Coulthard’s name, red numbering on the chronograph and tachymeter and a similarly colored second hand.
