Hamilton Awards honor behind-the-scenes stars
Los Angeles--Hamilton watches hosted the 5th annual “Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards” here Nov. 6, paying tribute to behind-the-scenes talents whose individual work has contributed to the quality of a motion picture or television series, and the lasting impression it left on audiences.
Hamilton emerged into the film industry in 1951 with the Oscar-nominated movie “The Frogman,” where actors portraying Navy divers wore the same Hamilton watches that American soldiers used during World War II. The brand has now had its products appear in approximately 400 films.
“Because of our long-standing relationship with Hollywood, Hamilton realizes that it takes the hard work and commitment of many talented professionals to put together the movies and TV series we all love so much,” Sylvain Dolla, CEO of Hamilton International, said. “It is with tremendous gratitude that we honor these eleven off-screen heroes tonight who have devoted their lives to Hollywood, in order to create truly remarkable on-screen productions for everyone to enjoy.”
Horrible Bosses actor Isaiah Mustafa hosted the event, with award presentations by actors and filmmakers including Robert Pattinson, Harrison Ford, Michael Bay, Antonio Banderas, Viola Davis and others. Honorees were selected from movies and television series that were released during the year and/or qualified at the most recent movie festivals of Cannes, Toronto and Venice, as well as at the Festival of the American Film Institute.
The eleven people honored were director Chris Weitz, producer Agustin Almodovar, screenwriter Yasmina Reza, production designer Mark Ricker, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, film editors Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey, costume designer Janie Bryant, property master Russell Bobbitt, visual effects supervisor Scott Farrar and stunt choreographer Vic Armstrong, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards also honored the winner of the Hamilton Short Film Competition, which was established earlier this year for film students at educational institutions around the world and featured plot lines based around the concept of “time,” including Hamilton products and spirit. The winner of the competition was Evelina De Gaudenzi, a graduate of the Experimental Cinematographic Foundation in Milan, Italy.
A member of the Swatch group, Hamilton watches was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pa.
