Lengnau, Switzerland--Rado’s True Thinline, a thin, high-tech ceramic watch, has won the Good Design Award 2011.

The Good Design Award is presented by the Chicago Athenaeum, a museum of architecture and design, and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Created in Chicago in 1950, the Award is well-recognized for design excellence, with the Athenaeum receiving several thousand submissions from leading manufacturers and design firms this year.

Rado’s True Thinline has a movement no thicker than a credit card and a case 5 mm thick. According to Rado, all components of the watch have been reworked to ensure they are fully integrated at this thinness, including the quartz movement.

This is the fifth time Rado has been honored with the Good Design Award.
