Antiquorum HK to offer rare, complicated watches

A highly complicated LeCoultre white gold Gyrotourbillon One will be offered at Antiquorum’s timepiece auction in Hong Kong this month.

Hong Kong--A host of complicated watches from Jaeger LeCoultre and Patek Philippe will be offered at Antiquorum’s sale of “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces,” to be held Feb. 26 here. 

The sale will offer 452 timepieces, including three Jaeger LeCoultre pieces that have been in the hands of a private collector and will now be offered for the first time at auction.

Top lots of the sale include a Patek Philippe Ref. 3939 (below) in pink gold. A minute-repeating wristwatch with a one-minute tourbillon regulator, the piece has a pre-sale high estimate of approx. $412,730.

A Jaeger LeCoultre white gold Reverso “Triptyque” grand complication (below), No. 02/20 will also be offered. This rare piece is made in 18-karat white gold with a perpetual calendar retrograde date, triple-dial reversible tourbillon with equation of time, civil time, sidereal time and a sky chart. The watch has a pre-sale high estimate of approx. $386,934.

A Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 (below) will be included in the sale. Launched in 1941 as the world’s first production perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch, the piece can be considered one of the most important developments by the company, setting the brand apart from contemporary rivals, according to Antiquorum. The example at auction is made in 18-karat yellow gold and features a perpetual calendar, moon phases, square button chronograph, register and tachometer. The timepiece has a pre-sale high estimate of approx. $322,434.

A Jaeger LeCoultre white gold Gyrotourbillon One, No. 02/20, is made in 18-karat white gold with a perpetual calendar and bi-retrograde date spherical tourbillon, with equation of time and leap year calendar. The watch has a pre-sale high estimate of approx. $296,637.

The auction will be previewed in multiple Asian cities prior to its commencement. The schedule is as follows:

Shanghai, Antiquorum Shanghai – Feb. 14
Beijing, the Grand Millennium Beijing – Feb. 16
Singapore, Raffles City Convention Centre – Feb. 19
Hong Kong, Antiquorum Hong Kong – Feb. 23-25
