Vietnam jewelry and watch show set for November

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam—Following its debut earlier this year, the International Jewelry and Watch Vietnam (IJV) fair will return with a fall edition, to be held from Nov. 14-16, 2008.

The show, which will take place at the Ho Chi Minh International Exhibition and Convention Center, is intended to act as a platform to explore Vietnamese markets as well as a gateway to enter neighboring countries.

Visitors from more than 30 countries and regions attended the spring edition, with the majority hailing from the Asia-Pacific region, but also including participants from the Middle East, South Africa, Europe, South and Central America, Canada and the United States.

According to show organizers, the World Trade Fair Limited and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, the IJV is set to draw the attention of buyers from Vietnam and neighboring countries, including Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, who are sourcing everything from finished jewelry and diamonds to tools and equipment.

In 2006, gold, gems and precious-jewelry sales in Vietnam reached $6.3 billion, and demand is expected to rise even further to $8.19 billion in 2008.
