Tiffany eyeing E. Side

Rumors are circulating that Tiffanyand Co. and
Brooks Brothers are securing space at 708 Madison Ave. in Manhattan. Tiffany spokeswoman Linda Buckley denies reports that the luxury jewelry retailer has obtained space at the address. Brooks Brothers and its leasing agent had not returned phone calls by press time.
Brokers are saying that customer complaints about heavy tourist traffic in its flagship store on Fifth Avenue is what prompted Tiffany to check out Madison Avenue spaces. Graff, Bulgari and Kwiat are among the jewelers currently located on Madison Avenue, which is considered an area for true shoppers.
