New York--Tiffany and Co. has won the Environmental Media Association's (EMA) most prestigious honor, the Corporate Responsibility Award.

Tiffany was given the award during the EMA's 18th Annual Awards, held on Nov. 13 at the Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.

The EMA honors critically acclaimed projects in the entertainment world and responsible institutions for their commitment to bringing eco-consciousness to the spotlight.

"Tiffany and Co. has been a long-term leader in the jewelry industry on many levels, especially in terms of environmental protection and sustainability," EMA President Debbie Levin said in a media release. "We are confident in their continued passion to create beautiful designs while protecting the planet."

Presenting the award to Tiffany Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mike Kowalski was actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who donned Elsa Peretti for Tiffany and Co. "Diamonds by the Yard" drop earrings and Frank Gehry's Morph Diamond hinged Bangle.

Kowalski noted in his acceptance speech how Tiffany is committed to obtaining precious metals and gemstones and crafting its jewelry in ways that are socially and environmentally responsible.

"It is simply the right thing to do," Kowalski said, "and our customers expect and deserve nothing less."
