JA New York show dispatch

With a pearl jewelry story coming up in October, I've got pearls on the brain, and I've seen some really fabulous ones at the JA New York Summer Show so far.
Among my favorite new pieces is this strand from Cielo Venezia's "Nimei" collection. If you look to the right of the strand, you'll see three chocolate-toned pearls that have been set among the gold beads. It's subtle yet super interesting at the same time, especially as the pearls are meant to sit askew and closer to your collarbone, as opposed to directly at bottom center.
The brand's also doing similar styles with pearls and beads of varying colors, like luminious white akoyas coupled with milky agate or light pink coral.
While a number of designers have been playing with pearl and faceted-gemstone mixes for some time now, it's really fresh to see the more opaque combinations, especially as they complement a pearl's smooth, round shape.
