New York--The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) has announced its first Coyote Classic 5K run, which will take place amid the GemFair events in Tucson next month in lieu of the golf tournament.

AGTA has partnered with the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for the event, which benefits the Special Olympics Arizona.

It will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Santa Cruz Park on the Rillito River in Tucson, occurring near the end of the 2014 GemFair, which is Feb. 4 to 9.

Registration is $25. Those interested in participating can sign up at any time between now and 7 a.m. the day of the event.

Donations and sponsorships can be added to the registration fee or made separately.

The 2014 Coyote Classic 5K is being held in lieu of the Coyote Classic golf tournament.

AGTA has partnered with the LETR since 1981 to help raise money for Special Olympic athletes in Tucson and surrounding cities. Since then, AGTA has donated more than $250,000 for Special Olympics Arizona.

Additional information and registration for the Coyote Classic 5K can be found on the AGTA website.
