The free event coincides with a new exhibit at the GIA museum, “Centuries of Opulence: Jewels of India.”
Carlsbad, Calif.--The Gemological Institute of America will connect aspiring industry professionals and recruiters at its annual Jewelry Career Fair and Open House next month.
The free event will take place Oct. 13 at GIA headquarters in Carlsbad, California from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is open to all and is the only time of year the public can visit the campus without an appointment.
In addition to the opportunity to connect with employees from companies like Tiffany & Co., Stuller, JTV, Leo Hamel and GIA, career fair attendees can attend two panels happening that day.
“Job Success in Today’s Market” will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will be moderated by GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques. Weighing in on the topic will be: Ashwin Bhindi, manager of Bhindi Jewelers; Douglas K. Hucker, CEO of AGTA; Jennifer Susan Pusenkoff, designer, president and CEO of Jennifer Pusenkoff Design Inc.; and Jordan Tabach-Bank, CEO and owner of The Loan Companies.
From 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., JCK magazine Editor-in-Chief Victoria Gomelsky will moderate a panel titled “Creative Careers.” It will feature Arun Bohra, designer & CEO of Arunashi; Maryanna Nagle, valuation manager at The RealReal; Lindsay Jane, jewelry designer/owner of Lindsay Jane Designs; Katey Brunini, owner and designer of K. Brunini Jewels; Anil Maloo, president of Baggins Inc.; and Shelly Sergent, curator of the Somewhere In The Rainbow Collection.
The annual career fair and open house coincides with the opening of a new exhibit at the GIA’s museum, “Centuries of Opulence: Jewels of India.” It features 50 historical jewelry pieces from the 17th to 20th century.
Guests can also visit the Richard T. Liddicoat Gemological Library and Information Center, the world’s largest gem and jewelry library, which houses the Cartier Rare Book Repository, and they can sit in on classroom demonstrations of some of GIA’s courses.
