Debbie Azar co-founded Gemological Science International in 2005.
New York—Gemological Science International co-founder and President Debbie Azar has joined the ranks of the 24 Karat Club of New York City.
Azar began her career in the industry by starting her own costume jewelry business, then went on to hold sales, marketing and business development roles at several companies.
In 2005, she and Mark Gershburg established GSI, which offers a variety of lab services, grading reports, gemological education and research.
Azar is an active member of several industry organizations and charities; she currently serves on the board of Jewelers for Children.
She said she was “honored” to become a member of the 24 Karat Club of New York City, which is based in Manhattan and has been in operation since 1902.
“As one of the world’s largest gemological organizations, we play an important part in ensuring transparency and confidence in the global diamond industry, and the U.S. market specifically. Having the opportunity to develop deeper relationships with like-minded industry professionals is invaluable.”
