New York—The Diamond Empowerment Fund has announced the addition of two members to its board of directors.

Abhay Javeri, CEO of SDC Designs, and Sandeep Kothari, group managing director of KGK Group, will lend their talents to the board.

“I am thrilled to be part of this great organization and cause,” Javeri said. “Empowering youth from diamond communities to become the next generation of leaders through access to higher education is a noble mission worth supporting.”

Kothari noted that “D.E.F’s mission has a direct and tangible ‘diamonds do good’ impact that the millennial consumer needs to hear.”

Javeri and Kothari will be in Las Vegas alongside their fellow board members at the end of May for the Diamonds Do Good Awards.

Held annually, the awards honor individuals and groups in the diamond industry who have contributed to the positive impact of the local communities where they operate.

This year, De Beers CEO Bruce Cleaver will be honored with the Professional Advancement Award for his work toward gender equality in his organization and the Government of Canada’s Northwest Territories will receive the Responsible Government Award for its sustainable mining practices, which have helped local indigenous group.

Rolex will take home the Global Corporate Spirit Award recognizing its many philanthropic and social responsibility efforts.

The awards will take place on May 31. For more information or to purchase tickets and sponsorships, visit the website.
