Hari Krishna rewards employees with cars, homes
Cash bonuses, jewelry, trips--these are examples of rewards retail employees could see when a store meets its sales goals. And these might have been more than enough to satisfy, until they get word about the rewards one company recently heaped on its workers.
And all of these might have been more than enough to satisfy employees, until they get word about the rewards one Indian diamond company recently heaped on its workers, gifts so grand they netted a mention by The Washington Post.
For Diwali 2014, which took place earlier this month, manufacturer and De Beers sightholder Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. rewarded employees with “outstanding performance” and who had not missed a day of work with cars, apartments, trips and/or jewelry because the company had met its goal of topping $1 billion in exports.
“All our dreams have come true only through our workers,” said Hari Krishna Chairman Savjibhai Dholakia. “A target was set for all the employees and they have achieved it. This is a big day for the entire Hari Krishna family…The company’s growth lies in the employees’ dedication toward their work by giving their heart and soul 100 percent to it and, hence, to further motivate and encourage them, the company rewarded them.”
The company doled out its lavish gifts at events held simultaneously at its Surat and Mumbai offices on Oct. 19.
In Surat, home to the company’s manufacturing unit, a total of 424 Fiat Punto cars, 207 flats (apartments), and 570 pieces of Slva Collection-Kisna diamond jewelry went to 1,201 employees. The company said those who had cars but not their own home received the apartments; those who had flats but no cars received automobiles; and those who had both received the jewelry.
In Mumbai, Hari Krishna rewarded 86 employees with foreign trips and Slva Collection-Kisna diamond jewelry.
