New York--Chanel executive Olivier Stip is the new chair of the Gem Awards committee. He succeeds Norman Miller, who headed the committee for the jewelry awards from 2014-2018.

20180622 Olivier StipOlivier StipStip is a luxury goods industry veteran who has held positions at Richemont (Piaget and Cartier) and is now the general manager of watches and fine jewelry for Chanel, overseeing retail and wholesale for the division in the United States.

Prior to joining Chanel in 2010, he was the senior vice president of marketing and communications at Cartier North America, and was vice president of retail and jewelry and vice president of marketing and global communications for Piaget in Geneva.

Stip holds an MBA in finance and marketing from ESCP Europe.

“I’ve had the privilege to be a part of the GEM Awards since its inception, as a guest, an award presenter, and a committee member,” he said. “The exposure that the event brings to the jewelry industry and Jewelers of America is unparalleled, and I’m honored to be invited to lead the committee for the next two years.”

As committee chair, Stip will lead the group who will ultimately select the 2019 winners of the jewelry awards.

The 2019 edition of the Gem Awards, the annual jewelry awards event produced by Jewelers of America to call attention to those who are raising the profile of fine jewelry and watches, is scheduled to take place Friday, Jan. 11, 2019.
