Industry news was full of diamond market updates this week, from the Rapaport Group reporting that polished prices were down in June after weak Las Vegas and Hong Kong shows, to Petra Diamonds selling its recent 121-carat find for $6 million.

The industry also mourned the loss of a longtime retailer when news came out that Harold Tivol, who was credited with building Tivol Jewelers into what it is today, died Wednesday morning.

Shortly after the calendar flipped to the new month, one National Jeweler editor celebrated the July birthstone with a blog that showcases ruby jewels, while the latest Style File highlights the floral mania that’s sweeping across the industry.
