Gemfields Amps Up its Designer Partnerships
For the second year in a row, the colored gemstone miner showed a collection in partnership with Muse showroom at Couture.
Las Vegas--Gemfields’ collaboration with fine jewelry showroom Muse was greatly expanded at the Couture show this year.
The colored gemstone miner enlisted 17 Muse-represented designers to create a series of charms, which will retail individually beginning this fall for $500 to $10,000 each.
The designers who made charms for the collaboration are: Ana Khouri, Buddha Mama, Dezso by Sara Beltrán, Elena Votsi, Fox & Bond, Holly Dyment, Hoorsenbuhs, Kismet by Milka, Lucifer Vir Honestus, Luis Morais, Michelle Fantaci, Nancy Newberg, Nikos Koulis, Savannah Stranger, Silvia Furmanovich, Sylva & Cie and Tara Hirshberg.
“I am pleased with the progress we have made this year in bringing color to a broader audience, but I am even more excited about the future opportunities,” said Gemfields Director of Sales and Marketing, Americas Sally Morrison, who, on the opening day of Couture, was announced as the 2018 recipient of the Gem Award for Lifetime Achievement.
“Now, more than ever, we need to bring fresh narratives and inventive design to engage the younger consumer in our category, and I’m sure that color can be a big part of that.”
Every Gemfields x Muse charm is a representation of its designer’s signature style and is connected to the collection through the use of Zambian emeralds or Mozambican rubies mined by Gemfields.
In addition to the charms, Gemfields amped up its designer collaborations.
Muse had several non-charm jewelry styles from its roster on display at their booth at Couture, as did several other brands not affiliated with the showroom, such as Zoe Chicco and Retrouvai.
Pieces will hit retail stores as early as the fall, though a smattering of Gemfields x Muse designs went on sale during Couture on e-commerce site Moda Operandi via its online trunk show format, where they will remain until July 16.
For the first time, Gemfields also had a presence at JCK Las Vegas, co-hosting a panel with the Jewelers Vigilance Committee on the challenges in the supply chain for colored gemstones.
