See Karma El Khalil’s New Influencer-Approved Collection
Khalil goes back to design basics with a range that’s anything but.
Las Vegas—Karma El Khalil is known for playing with geometry’s depth and angles to create her visually arresting pieces, and her latest collection goes back to design basics.
“Linea” was inspired by the most simplistic of design forms: the line. Khalil focused on this element, avoiding extraneous design details, to produce jewelry that showcases the inherent possibility in simplicity.
Thin rods of 18-karat gold link together to form necklaces and bracelets—some interspersed with gems like tourmaline, aquamarine and peridot, and plenty of diamonds—while a choker, bracelet and ring are comprised of the same gold pieces arranged vertically, which lay fluidly against the skin.
Khalil also plays with designing not only for the body, but for the space around it. A futuristic ear cuff, for example, comprised of a gold and diamond circle, surrounds the ear to create extra dimension and hangs freely without a post or clip.
“Jewelry is an extension of our being, so why not design for the space around us?” Khalil questioned.
“I have always found aesthetic strength in repetition and negative spaces. This has been a recurring theme throughout my collections and one that has infinite creative bounds.”
To illustrate the boldness yet wearability of Linea, Khalil embarked on a sumptuous coffee table book to both tell the collection’s story and serve as its lookbook.
She enlisted fashion influencer Aureta to model Linea in the plush setting of Paris’ Hotel de Crillion, a move that exposes the collection to a wide audience, namely her half-million Instagram followers.
Khalil recently showed Linea and its accompanying book at the Couture show in Las Vegas. The collection, which is entirely handmade, retails between $850 and $36,000 and will be available at Roseark, Fivestory, Moda Operandi and Twist.
Wholesale inquiries may be directed to Roseark’s sales showroom.
