As hard stones good for inlay like lapis lazuli, malachite and labradorite grow in popularity in jewelry design, coral is a natural pick for what could be the next hot material popping up in cocktail rings and statement earrings.

At least, Pantone thinks so, calling its “Living Coral” shade its color of the year for 2019.

But some designers have always had a way with the gemstone, whether it’s on trend or not. Wendy Yue is one of them.
