Drop and stud earrings, colorful cocktail rings and impressive diamond cuffs proved to be the most popular jewelry picks at the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Celebrities landed at one end of the spectrum or the other when it came to adorning their ears, choosing either colorful, elaborate drop earrings or keeping it simple and classy with diamond studs or clusters.

As has been the trend at red carpet events in years past, elaborate and vibrant cocktail rings were common, and most often featured a large center stone with pavé accents.

Large diamond bracelets also were spotted at the awards show, indicating that some stars are beginning to drift away from the popular trend of layering smaller bangles and bracelets in favor of one big piece.

Metal-wise, the return of yellow gold was illustrated at the show, seen in rings, earrings and necklaces. Gold is expected to be a major industry topic in 2014, with demand for gold jewelry finally exceeding recycling demand in late 2013.
