A luncheon with a famous designer, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a Georgia jeweler and a corporate social responsibility promise in Mumbai are among the recent events in the industry.

Fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, who launched a fine jewelry brand sold exclusively on Blue Nile in recent years, showcased her company’s latest designs at the NoMad Hotel penthouse in New York Thursday, surrounded by jewelry editors and bloggers.

Meanwhile, in Georgia, the Cumberland Diamond Exchange in Smyrna held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new look of its building, which it has occupied since the early 1980s. The event served as a reopening, where guests were invited to sip champagne and shop for jewelry.
