The Russian Federation topped Botswana in diamond production last year, according to data released by the Kimberley Process, while Tiffany & Co. announced it was closing a diamond polishing plant in Namibia.


Sotheby’s will be selling a rare gray pearl necklace this fall, and a watch gifted to Richard Burton by Elizabeth Taylor also will be hitting the auction block, at Silverstone.

In addition, Chow Tai Fook took the 507.55-carat Cullinan Heritage diamond to create “A Heritage in Bloom,” a necklace that can be worn 27 different ways.
