It was a Vegas-centric news week, with Jewelers for Children announcing it had raised $2.8 million to support its charity partners and PGI-USA and the Couture show naming the winners of their respective annual design contests.

In the world of man-made diamonds, the International Gemological Institute Hong Kong certified a lab-grown 10.02-carat square emerald-cut diamond, and Helzberg Diamonds confirmed that it is selling lab-grown diamonds at some of its locations.

On the other side of the spectrum, the world’s largest diamond mining companies have formed the Diamond Producers Association in an attempt to buoy demand for mined diamonds.
