New York--Family-owned fine jewelry brand Carelle said it has become the first in the fine jewelry industry to be certified under the “Made in NY” initiative, which recognizes and celebrates the city’s fashion sector by supporting Big Apple-based brands and designers.

Made in NY is an initiative of the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

Carelle’s certification under the initiative means that its jewelry meet the highest standards of quality, design and craftsmanship and that its operations are fully based in New York.

Carelle previously has been recognized for its practices by the Responsible Jewelry Council, the American Gem Society, the Women’s Jewelry Association and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This Made in NY certification is “the final puzzle piece in validating Carelle’s commitment to its product, its craftsmen and its city,” the company said.

Since founding Carelle in 1977 in New York, Chana Regev has focused on creating pieces that not only are comfortable to wear but also stand the test of time.

She runs the company alongside her husband, Eyal, and their three sons, all of who are aiming to expand the brand’s reach through both independent, family-operated jewelry stores as well as major retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s flagship in New York.
