Paramus, N.J.—PT Next, the technology division of Pac Team Group, has acquired software development company CodeNameWhat.

Founded in 1949, Pac Team Group designs and manufactures displays, packaging, fixtures and exhibition solutions for watch, jewelry, eyewear and luxury goods brands, among others.

PT Next specifically creates custom-designed technology for the retail world.

CodeNameWhat, developed by RFID (radio-frequency identification) software veteran Peter Shoemaker, worked with PT Next to develop Argos, the latter’s RFID-based platform for the jewelry and watch industry.

As part of the deal, Shoemaker will step into the new role of director of software engineering for PT Next to continue developing and advancing the platform.

And in the coming months, the CodeNameWhat team will join offices with the PT Next team in Paramus, New Jersey.

Pac Team Group President Eric Zuckerman said, “With the acquisition of CodeNameWhat, PT Next can continue to lead the design, development and implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions that are specifically designed to address our customer’s retail challenges in the jewelry and timepiece industry.”
