JFC Announces Local Grants Program for 2016
This year, Jewelers for Children has set aside $50,000 for independent jewelers to donate to the local organizations of their choosing.
New York--Jewelers for Children has announced the 2016 edition of its Local Grants contest, the contest in which independent jewelers nominate local organizations to receive funds.
This year, JFC has set aside $50,000 to be used for 10 grants of $5,000 each.
Independent jewelers will have the opportunity to nominate a local organization to receive one of these grants. Once a final list of nominees is put together, the retailer then will be responsible for getting people to vote for their charity through a campaign on JFC’s Facebook page.
The jeweler and the nominated charity will be responsible for garnering interest in their organization and securing votes through their own social media channels as well, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email blasts and more.
JFC said it will provide sample language to use on these social media posts as well as press releases that can be used to generate votes.
Nominations for organizations will be accepted between Oct. 3 and 28. The voting process will begin on Nov. 7 and remain open until Nov. 18.
The winners--the 10 organizations with the most votes--will be announced Nov. 21.
Grants will be given before the end of the year, presented to the organizations by the jewelers who nominated them on behalf of the jewelry industry.
