JCK Revamping Design Center for 2016
A non-linear floor plan with a “community feel” and a tiered model for exhibitors are two elements that will be new to the Design Center at JCK Las Vegas next year.
Norwalk, Conn.--New booths, a non-linear floor plan and a three-tier model for exhibitors are among the updates being made to JCK Las Vegas’ Design Center for next year, show organizers announced this week.
The Design Center is a curated section of JCK Las Vegas that features “collections with a story,” showcasing the work of well-established brands as well as up-and-coming designers.
JCK said its re-envisioning of the space aims to create a “community feel” through an open concept and unique look in booth design, which includes chalkboard-style booths and a varying floor plan.
Alongside the redesign, and exclusive to the Design Center section of the show, is the new tiered model for exhibitors, which consists of three levels.
The first is “Kickstarter.” Kickstarter is comprised of six exhibiting spots that will be go to students from jewelry and design schools and colleges. The Design Center will serve as a platform for the launch of their brand, and as part of the package, students will be able to participate in a mentorship program.
The next phase is “Rising Star,” which is open to up-and-coming designers who have been in business for five years or fewer. These exhibitors can take advantage of a lower-cost, smaller booth space in a dedicated area of the Design Center, as well as education and mentorship opportunities. There are 21 exhibitor spots in this phase, and designers must stay in this phase for three years before moving on to phase three, which is “Resident Design Center.”
The third and final phase in the model, Resident Design Center is reserved for established designer brands. They get a premier location at the front of the show and Design Center area. Exhibitors in this phase have a larger space, lounge access, drink tickets and merchandise credit raffle tickets to give to customers.
As part of participating in the Design Center, each exhibitor will be connected with retailers via a new hosting program and networking events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, retailer tours and happy hours.
New applicants interested in exhibiting in the Design Center may complete the form on LasVegas.JCKOnline.com. The submission deadline is now Friday, Jan. 15.
